Verbal Bullying: What it is and its Effects by Hailey

Falling victim to bullying is difficult, yet verbal bullying is one of the stronger categories of bullying, making it more destructive. Many young people believe physical abuse or actions are stronger weapons than words, but unfortunately, words can be detrimental to the more sensitive parts of a human, which are the heart and the brain. Unfortunately, harmful words may taunt you by staying in your mind forever, which can lower your confidence and harm your heart by reducing your self-esteem.

Essentially, verbal bullying can be very damaging, causing a person to lose much more than skin. Hence, verbal bullying is probably the strongest of the four types of bullying. For example, teasing, name-calling, and threats are common examples of verbal bullying. Common signs should not be taken lightly due to their obvious impact. Harmful words are like fire ants, small but harmful.

Ultimately, it is important to keep in mind the impact of words and how they may affect everyone around you. In addition, nobody should have their confidence and self-esteem stripped away. Therefore, having emotional intelligence and empathy can be an alternative to harm.
