Are you struggling with the thought of having to homeschool?

Updated: Jul 8

You are obviously thinking about joining the wonderful world of homeschooling. However, it could feel confusing if you don't know how to start this journey. First and foremost, it is important to know that you have options in homeschooling before you begin. You may favor Traditional, Charlotte Mason, Unschooling, Cyber School, or even Eclectic homeschooling.

Traditional Homeschooling is the the most similar to public school. You will essentially use the same curriculum as public school and even mimic the the set up at your home. There will be workbooks and strict schedules that align with traditional school.

Charlotte Mason Homeschooling involves teaching the whole child with special emphasis on observing nature, art, music, crafts, classic literature, biographies, and of course living books. This type of homeschooling is based upon the interests of the child.

Unschooling is a style completely determined by the child. All the parent does is provide a variety of materials and comfortable spacious areas. Also, only a little guidance is needed as children learn through daily life. There is no schedule and no curriculum.

Cyber Schooling is basically schooling online. This method does not leave much for a parent to do and not much choice for the child. This may work for a child who simply loves to sit in front of a computer. However, this would not be a fitting choice for a child who is active and loves hands-on activities.

Eclectic Homeschooling is a mesh of several types of homeschooling. The Eclectic homeschooling parent incorporates the best pieces of different methods to create something new that works for their child.

Hopefully, you will not feel so overwhelmed with the thought of homeschooling. You have choices to make it work best for your child.

Happy Homeschooling
